Richard Fifer – Meet the duke “Cristobal Colon XX”

Cristobal Colon XX was born in Madrid on October 4, 1949; he is the most direct descendent of the discoverer of Americas, due to the fact that between the different branches of the existent family tree, he belongs to the main branch, documented in full since the death of the admiral in the distant year of 1506. He is the current head of this branch which today runs by the 20th generation.

 

Following the call of the sea, Cristobal Colon XX became a professional marine and he has carried out a varied career as embarked officer in different ships, with an era in which he served as a naval pilot.   During seven years he was a helicopter pilot, an antisubmarine pilot which he operated from a Spanish aircraft carrier.

 

He later took a course specializing in antisubmarine battle and he went back to the boats to accumulate experience before being named commander of one of them. Once he full field his dream of commanding a unit, he joined the Estado Mayor of the Armada, in Madrid, were he spent his last four years of effective service.

 

He is currently in a status of reserve of the Spanish Armada, with the rank of Captain of the Frigate, and he works in a Civil company.

In his personal life we can say that he is married with Doña Isabel de Mandaluniz marquees of Taurisano, and they are parents of two boys. Among his hobbies, the most prominent is his passion for history, especially the period that includes the major geographical discovery carried out by the Spanish and Portuguese during the XV and XVI century; he also likes other areas such as art, technology and sports.

Cristobal Colon XX”  shows us one more time his passion for history and geography by coming to our county “Panama” for a few days to share the different  scenarios with the Panamanian that  would lead to a tourist development of the areas that used to be called La Castilla del Oro by the Spanish Crown. This foundations, was an initiative of the Panamanian business man Richard Fifer–Carles, which is looking to give back to the central provinces the beauty and splendor of their towns to make them especially attractive to tourists,  the conquerors of the new century.
